May 2010 - Austin Heroes vs. Dobie Heroes Annual End of Year Soccer match! Launch Pad celebrated its third annual indoor soccer event against the Austin Police Department. For the third school year in a row, APD Chief Art Acevedo made time from his very busy schedule to go toe-to-toe against some of Dobie Middle Schools exceptional athletes and interact with the students. Launch Pad students who have worked diligently throughout the school year to improve their attendance, behavior and grades were exempted from morning classes to particiapte in the soccer event. We use this end of year event to show the students that with hard work and improvement comes great reward and fun! We were also joined by the new APD District Commander, Sergeant Holland. Fortunately for LP students, they experieced a big win over the APD in the match. Local news 8 covered the event and our program.
