Crisis Center of Comal County Day Trip, New Braunfels Texas

From our co-founder Rebecca:

Today I spent the afternoon with the remarkable team and two board members of the Comal Crisis Center, which primarily assists women and children (90%) seeking to escape domestic abuse and facing crises. They have graciously asked me to deliver the keynote speech at their upcoming gala in two weeks. Before doing so, I felt it was crucial to visit their facility and residence to witness their work in action.

In 2023, they served over 1,700 women and children, which is truly remarkable. I had the opportunity to meet with the head "mom" of their secure home for clients, and I deeply admire their mission, approach, and dedication to supporting these vulnerable Texas families. I wish them success in all their endeavors and eagerly anticipate joining them later in February as the keynote speaker for their fundraising gala.

More about the organization:

"Our mission is to provide crisis and prevention services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault while providing a safe environment where an individual can make educated, unbiased decisions about their future.

The Crisis Center of Comal County was founded in 1986 as the Comal County Women’s Center. Numerous local citizens began a grassroots effort to develop an agency that would address the needs of those experiencing domestic violence. In the beginning the agency consisted of several volunteers who provided information and referral to other service providers in the area. As time passed and grant funding was obtained the agency grew to include several paid staff and an emergency shelter. During those first years many of the agency’s clients also required sexual assault services. As a result, the agency developed a sexual assault crisis services program to serve Comal County."
